Resize PDF

Change every page to A4, Letter, Legal, A5 or A3 — content is scaled to fit, never stretched.

Got a PDF in the wrong paper size? A Letter-size form for an office that prints on A4, or a mix of page sizes from a scanner and a phone? This tool puts every page onto the paper size you choose, scaling the content down or up to fit and centring it.

The proportions of each page are kept, so nothing is distorted, and the content stays vector — text remains sharp and selectable. Pick Automatic orientation to keep landscape pages landscape. It all runs in your browser, so the file is never uploaded.

Best for: Letter ↔ A4 conversion · Uniform page sizes · Print-ready margins · Mixed-size scans

Frequently Asked Questions

How to Resize a PDF to A4, Letter or Another Page Size

Change the paper size of every page in a PDF in one go. Pick A4, US Letter, US Legal, A5 or A3, choose the orientation and margin, and download a copy where each page is scaled to fit the new size — without stretching or cropping.

  1. Drop your PDF onto the page.
  2. Choose the page size: A4, US Letter, US Legal, A5 or A3.
  3. Pick an orientation (Automatic keeps landscape pages landscape) and a margin.
  4. Click "Resize & Download" to save the resized copy.

Paper sizes differ by country: most of the world prints on A4 (210 × 297 mm), while the US and Canada use Letter (8.5 × 11 in). A Letter document printed on A4 gets clipped or shrunk unpredictably by the printer, and portals that demand A4 uploads will sometimes reject a Letter PDF outright. Resizing the PDF itself fixes this before it becomes a problem.

How the content is fitted Each page is scaled by the same amount horizontally and vertically, so circles stay circles and text keeps its proportions. Because A4 is narrower and taller than Letter, a Letter page placed on A4 is scaled down slightly and gets a thin white band at the top and bottom; going the other way leaves bands at the sides. Nothing is cut off.

Orientation and margins - Automatic gives each page the orientation that matches its content — useful for documents that mix portrait pages with landscape tables. - Portrait or Landscape forces every page one way. - A margin of 0.25″ or 0.5″ keeps content away from the edge, which helps when printers cannot print to the edge of the paper.

What stays and what does not Pages are placed as vector content, so text remains sharp and selectable and images are not re-compressed. Clickable links, fillable form fields and comments are not carried into the resized copy — if you need those, keep the original. To make a resized file smaller as well, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert a Letter PDF to A4?

Choose A4, leave orientation on Automatic, and download. Each Letter page is scaled to fit the A4 sheet and centred, with no stretching.

Can I make every page the same size?

Yes. Whatever mix of sizes the original has, every page in the output uses the paper size you pick.

Will the text still be selectable?

Yes. The page content is kept as vector content rather than converted to an image, so text stays selectable and searchable.

Why is there white space around my pages?

The page and the paper have different proportions. To avoid stretching, the content is scaled to fit inside and the leftover space is left white.

Can I crop off white margins instead?

That is a different job — use Crop PDF to trim the visible area of each page.
